Accentuate Your Style With A Beaded Lanyard

You would be hard-pressed to find something that is as versatile as a lanyard. Their uses are limitless and are limited only by your own imagination. One of the most common uses is for work ID badges and then conference identification. Today it is almost protocol for organizers of conferences to pass out lanyards with ID tags to all the participants. This is a great way to know who represents a company and eliminates the problem of having to remember everyones name. This is also a great way for the host company to keep their name in the minds of the participants. Many companies choose to have their business name and web address screen printed on the cloth lanyards for marketing purposes.
Of course, these promotional lanyards usually have a simple design. But if you are looking for one for personal use, you can get very creative. One of the most popular lanyards is the beaded lanyard. These are beautiful creations that will ensure that you will want to wear them every day. Typically, once people buy one, they realize that they want more. It is easy to find one that will match every outfit but with style and fashion in the forefront of most womens minds more seems to be better! Some people choose to have several on hand to coordinate with their outfits. If you really want something rich looking yet subtle for yourself or a male you can buy a leather lanyard. These come in brown and black; the colors that go with everything. Men wear the leather lanyards if they have to wear a lanyard at the office. They don’t want something that looks too flashy or distracts from their professionalism. Therefore, a leather lanyard can be the perfect choice for displaying an ID badge.

Another option is to have a beaded lanyard for personal use and a leather one for professional use. You can use the beaded one should you dress for an evening function where identification badges are required; whereas the leather one can stay affixed to your ID badge for work. There is no limit to the amount of creative options you have.
Of course you don’t have to only wear a lanyard around your neck. Many people use them as a fashion accessory and have them hanging out of their pockets. This is especially popular with men, but some women are catching on to this trend as well. And you don’t even have to have them attached to your body. They have tons of practical uses around the house as well. They can be used to display your childs gold medal from the track and field meet or even to hold your bottle opener in plain sight in the kitchen for easy access. There are infinite possibilities when it comes to lanyards and there are surely some stylish ideas that havent even been thought of yet. So when you get your new fashionable lanyard, really use your imagination and see if you can find a use for it that hasnt been thought of yet.

Wikinews interviews Jonathan Stanley, Scottish Unionist candidate for 2021 Airdrie and Shotts by-election in Scotland

Voters in the Scottish constituency of Airdrie and Shotts are to go to the polls on May 13 to elect a replacement member of parliament (MP) to the United Kingdom House of Commons.
The outgoing MP for the seat is Neil Gray — a representative of the pro-independence Scottish National Party — was resigning to run in the Scottish Parliament election, which was to occur on May 6. Gray won the seat with 45.1% of the vote at the 2019 general election, winning 13.1% more than the second placed candidate Helen McFarlane of the Scottish Labour party, who received 32.0% of the votes.
One of the eight candidates running in this constituency is Jonathan Stanley of the Scottish Unionist Party. Stanley was selected as the prospective parliamentary candidate for this seat in September, after it was announced Gray would be seeking nomination in the Scottish Parliament. Stanley is also running in the Scottish Parliament election, running as a list candidate in the Lothian region for the Alliance 4 Unity party.
Wikinews spoke to Stanley about important issues issues both nationwide and in Airdrie and Shotts.
Stanley provided two links each alongside the answers to the first two questions. For the first question, these were opinion pieces written by him, and for the second, these were press releases from a think tank Stanley is involved in. Those four links are cited in the external links section.
The first opinion piece addresses housing, calling for, among other things, social housing to be restricted to those who have resided in the UK for ten years or more, a 20% stamp duty on houses sold to foreigners, and abolishing income tax relief for “buy to let” mortgages. The second opinion piece addressed a hate speech law passed by the Scottish Parliament, and said it threatened freedoms and “families[‘] privacy and security of their homes”.
The two press releases concerned COVID-19. The first, published in late January 2020, called for mass flu and pneumococcal vaccination for high risk groups and the banning of flights to and from China, except medical relief flights. The second, published on 15 March 2020, called for a number of things, including the closure of the UK border, a national lockdown, Universal Credit for all during the crisis, a guarantee of essential utilities, and national procurement of ventilators.

Ferry MV Suilven sinks in Suva, Fiji

MV Suilven, a ferry in service in Fiji, capsized and sank in Suva Harbour today.
Around thirty people, all crewmembers, were on board. Local media report all were rescued. The 41-year-old vessel previously saw service in Scotland and New Zealand.
The ship capsized early this afternoon and sank within an hour. It had been converted from passenger to cargo use following its most recent sale, to Venu Shipping in 2012 or 2011. Local reports indicated police, the Navy, local tug boats, and volunteer rescuers all attended the accident.
The converted ferry reportedly began to list on entering the harbour. It was working a route carrying cargo between Suva and the Northern Division.
Built in Norway, in service from 1974, the ship served with Scottish ferry firm Caledonian MacBrayne until 1995, connecting the mainland town of Ullapool to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. It was ultimately replaced by a larger, faster vessel and was sold to Strait Shipping who used it until 2004 to ply New Zealand’s seas, connecting Wellington to Picton and to Nelson.
The name MV Suilven is in reference to the Suilven mountain in Scotland’s Sutherland region.
Fundraiser Captain Sir Tom Moore dies aged 100 with COVID-19

On Tuesday, Captain Sir Tom Moore died after suffering from COVID-19 and pneumonia, in a hospital in Bedford, England. Moore had raised nearly £ 33 million for the National Health Service (NHS) last year by walking 100 laps around his garden by his 100th birthday. He was also a World War II veteran who fought in the Burma campaign.
His daughters announced his death saying “the last year of our father’s life was nothing short of remarkable”, adding he was “an incredible father and grandfather, and he will stay in our hearts forever”.
Moore was born in Keighley, in West Yorkshire, England. He joined the British Army in 1939. After leaving the army, he was an instructor in the Armoured Fighting Vehicle School in Bovington, Dorset. He moved to Bedfordshire in 2007 where his family lived.
In April 2020, he began to walk laps around his garden in an attempt to raise £1000 for the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic. His campaign became highly popular, resulting in raising millions of pounds, and broke the Guiness world record for the most raised by an individual doing a charity walk. He also released a duet with singer Michael Ball, which reached number one on the UK charts, making Moore the oldest person to make this achievement. On his birthday, April 30, the British Army made him an honorary colonel; and in July, Elizabeth II knighted him for these achievements.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid his respects, saying Moore was “a hero in the truest sense of the word”, adding “he embodied the triumph of the human spirit”. Labour Party leader Keir Starmer said “Britain has lost a hero”. A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said the Queen would send a private message of condolence to the family of Moore. Flags at buildings such as 10 Downing Street flew at half mast to pay respect.
Moore had previously suffered from skin cancer on his head, and broke his hip in 2018. He said his hospital treatment inspired him to fundraise for the NHS, describing the staff who treated him as “marvellous”. He is survived by two daughters and four grandchildren.

Journalist, counselor, painter, and US 2012 Presidential candidate Joe Schriner of Cleveland, Ohio took some time to discuss his campaign with Wikinews in an interview.
Schriner previously ran for president in 2000, 2004, and 2008, but failed to gain much traction in the races. He announced his candidacy for the 2012 race immediately following the 2008 election. Schriner refers to himself as the “Average Joe” candidate, and advocates a pro-life and pro-environmentalist platform. He has been the subject of numerous newspaper articles, and has published public policy papers exploring solutions to American issues.
